This is a school strike that started in Sweden before the election in September 2018. A girl, Greta Thunberg, said something like "if the adults don't take my future on this planet seriously, why should I?" and sat outside the parliament for a couple of weeks, skipping school.

Lyka Habal Belisario

As long as the big companies and industries don't change you can protest every day for all the days you have left in your life but shit won't change.

Shazia Khan

Students protesting on a schoolday: +34000 attendees I'd love to see how many of those nature lovers would turn up on a saturday morning at 8am.

Maxine Robinson

People protest against climate change and sue their government for "not doing enough". Then they go on vacation in Dubai, use clothes from the other side of the planet, buy a new smartphone every year, use a shitton of plastic and waste for their personnal confort, warm their house to tropical temperature everyday in the winter, want the gov to put a shitload of salt on the road every winter because they donnt want to drive slower (and on sidewalk), etc I've stopped listening to people who want to spread ecology in other peoplens face without doing it themselves. We had a minister like that in France Wanted to change the world to be more ecofriendly. It stopped when a newspapper announced he had no less than 9 vehicles, including plane, jetski, bigass pick up, etc. You can change it but start by yourself.

Nicaey Caird McArtney

Cap here. I was one of the teenagers there. Sadly, about 75% of the People there just used it as an excuse to skip school, they were actually smoking, drinking and lighting fireworks. I saw people that were 'smart' enough to use slogans that said something in the line of "because of global warming, this might be the last time you see snow this century" Also. Government will never listen to us anyway *flies away*

Women: " DO SOMETHING AGAINST CARBON EMISSIONS ! " - How about you turn down the thermostat by 3°C Women: " NO YOU DO SOMETHING "

Helen Arturo Halili

Global warming is a problem for another generation, as harsh as that sounds, most people who are in charge don't care if the bad side effects of their actions will not be faced by them, so they reap the rewards while people in the future suffer.

Althea Montano Tuazan

Take overpopulation seriously... that's the real problem we face today

Jackie Fitch

a) Educate yourself so you can work to stop climate change in a meaningful way which actually has an impact b) Don't educate yourself and complain, insisting that other people fix the problem

Hurr durr "they only do it because they don't want to go to school" hurr durr "I'm gonna die before i have to experience any real consequence of climate change, pollution and carbon going over 400ppm and all the animals dying and shit"

Terrie GrahamTaylor

Majority of them are their because its better than going to school. When I was still in highschool we would all happily take any opportunity to "protest"

If Belgium managed to reduce its fossil fuel carbon footprint to zero, the total reduction would be ... 0.27% of world emissions, less than 1 days worth.

I see this a lot in comments, so just hear this : you gotta stop hating on students you know nothing about, and stop individual ecological hyper-accountability. Yes everyone can do lil things, but if laws and regulation are not actually changed, it won't do shit. And for the record, this manifestation is because the current Belgian governement (yeah we kinda have one) talks a lot about what they are going to do, but won't do shit.
